While not everyone aspires to be the next big hit on Broadway, drama acting can prove to be a fun hobby and a way to take on a different persona, even if only for just a little while. There are numerous ways that you can become involved with drama acting. Many communities sponsor a local drama theatre and put on productions once or twice per year, with the cast filled with local citizens. In many cases, at least one of these productions will include a musical, so if you also like to sing this can be a great opportunity to combine two favorite past times.
Local theatres usually announce their call for open auditions in the local newspaper. Even if you have had no formal training as an actor, you may be surprised to learn that a local or community theatre is looking for your talent to add to their cast.
