In his televised speech on early Saturday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said that he has asked his current government to resign,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], vowing that the new government will bring more democracy and reform,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in response to the massive protests during the last four days all over the country.He said that Egypt is a country governed by constitution and law, stressing that people should protect the public properties instead of burning what Egypt has built over the years.
Massive anti-government protests took place around Egypt on Friday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], leading to deaths and injuries. These protests have been inspired by the Tunisian "Jasmine Revolution."Mubarak added that instead of violence,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], people should achieve all their inspirations through awareness,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], dialogue and efforts. "I am always attached to the suffering of the Egyptian people,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," he said.
"Our program targets unemployment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], healthcare improvement and education services,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Mubarak.The president who has ruled the country for 30 years said that he will continue the country's political,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], economic and other reforms with "no point of return."
"I have been concerned about the poor and I am still concerned and that is what I have always worked on,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Mubarak.In his speech,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the president urged the youths to take care of the national interests,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], be restraint and not to abuse the freedom of expressions.
"These demonstrations would not have taken place without the freedom of expression that was given to the Egyptians,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Mubarak."I talk to you as an Egyptian citizen who spent his life guarding this country during both peace and war ... I bear all the responsibilities to preserve the citizens' security,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," he added.
Lebanese PM-designate reiterates to form government with all parties
The Hezbollah-backed Lebanese Prime Minister designate Najib Mikati on Friday said the new government will include all sects and political parties.Mikati told reporters at the conclusion of two days of consultations that after listening to the parliamentary blocs he found that "the views and denominators that combine parliamentary blocs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], more than any points of difference."
He said he would brief President Michel Suleiman on the outcome of consultations on Saturday. Mikati added that he can not set a specific time to form a government.On conditions set by the Future Movement led by caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mikati said that they are "not impossible."
The Future Movement on Thursday asked Mikati clarify his stance on the Special Tribunal for Lebanon probing the murder of former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri in 2005. They asked Mikati not to stop Lebanon's contacts with the STL,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to continue funding it and not withdraw the judges.Mikati said that the new government must include all political parties and he will make every effort to get everyone involved.
Mikati was appointed PM on Tuesday after the Hezbollah-led opposition toppled Hariri's government because of a dispute over the STL.The STL is expected to indict some Hezbollah members,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which triggered the current crisis in Lebanon.
